Peace, Honor and Glory (Bros on Leadership)

by Cedric Joshua Martinez

They say that leaders are made and not born. The same thing goes for bros. They are like gold from an oven. Heated, hammered and then polished. After which a boy turns into a bro, filled with wisdom and experience to do things according to his own virtues.

Throughout the course of history, certain bros made advancement in terms of leadership. There was Alexander the Great, ruler of Mesopotamia, Mohammed of the Islamic world, Confucius of China, Mahatma Gandhi of India and Jesus Himself. All these great bros were able to lead their own people towards peace, honor and glory.

In his years of leadership, Mr. Angelito Bautista Jr. is sure to have his own ups and downs. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in our beloved, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, became a College Student Council President last 2010 and is currently a volunteer member of the Parish Pastoral Council in their own town. Fortunately, I had a chance to ask him a series of questions that will give us an insight on what makes a bro, a good leader, how should a bro-leader act or what is the ideal bro-leader.

THE BRONICLES: What makes a bro a leader?

MR. BAUTISTA: Palabra de honor. Firmness. Gentleness and respectfulness.

THE BRONICLES: What is the ideal bro-leader?

MR. BAUTISTA: An ideal bro-leader is someone who objectively plans, decides and implements, someone who knows that leadership is action and service. A person who is ready to serve all the time when he can.

THE BRONICLES: Do you think that bros makes better leader than chicks (women)?

MR. BAUTISTA: Not really. It depends on the character of the person. Gender equality. Men can do what women can and vice versa. It varies on how they execute things.

THE BRONICLES: What are your notable achievements as a bro-leader?

MR. BAUTISTA: Aside from being a former student council president, graduating as summa cum laude of our batch, probably my volunteer membership in the Parish Pastoral council or responsible voting, coordinator of one ministry in our church, and as organizer in my former alma-mater. PUP of different political and social activities.

THE BRONICLES: Any tips for the bro-leaders and all other bros who want to become leaders out there.

MR. BAUTISTA: To all bros out there, who want to be a bro-leader, destiny is the fruit of your actions and thoughts. Work and act so you can achieve something. Do not be afraid to explore, life is a worlds of exploration. There are many things out there. That do not come to you but you should search for them. Reach them. And it includes leadership.

There you have it bros, leadership is really not that easy but if we are to consider the possibilities that it entails I am sure that those possibilities outweigh the difficulties of being a leader. After all, this is what bros have done in the past, what some do today and what we should continue in the near future.
