REVIEW:
Camera + projector, isn’t that awesome? The big, heavy and hassle to carry projector is now in your tiny camera. It is very convenient for those who love taking photos and presenting it to the public. But with its ISO and white balance control capacity this camera is only capable of the shots that are never spectacular, but never terrible. I mean it takes pictures that are OK. But it still costs a good deal with its projector.
When it comes to the looks of this camera, the difference between the Nikon Coolpix S1000pj and a regular camera is obvious as soon as you take a look at the camera’s front plate. That’s because the Nikon has not one, but two lenses, one for taking photos, and another one for projecting them into a plain wall or canvas. But, Nikon S1000pj’s projector has its limit especially its bulb. But still unique.
It's an instant wow-piece for anyone who uses it, and a great way to show off photos and yes, videos in a bind. And by bind, I mean any time you don't want to ask everyone where you are to crowd around on the computer screen and awkwardly watch while you look at your photos. Now, you just tell them to “dim the lights, and here we go!”

A Pizza fir the Big Bros

by Radel Llagas

The Bros were in the hunt of a pizza restaurant that will serve their craving for delicious and yummy pizza for their sudden Pizza Party. And then one of the bros brought up the name of the “Big Guys Pizza” at Shaw, Mandaluyong. We don’t have much time to waste that evening so we rush unto the “Big Guys Pizza” Shaw.

Big Guys Pizza is a family owned pizza shop from Bridgeville, PA and have their branch here in the Philippines. Owned and operated by Brian Parrish Sr. and Brian Parrish Jr., the Parrish family and sons (Brendan and Tyler) work together to bring the community a pizza shop unlike the large chains, with unique taste and friendly customer service.

At Big Guy's Pizza, we found the 38 inches pizza that leaves our stomach full. You will never leave their place hungry, that’s for sure. But here were the Bros Verdict;

* The Ambiance of the place is not that friendly. Small tables, limited space capacity, and basically boring. Not recommended for hang out place for barkada pizza parties nor’ for dates.
* The Pizza itself was really great no I mean really GREAT! It will complement your big appetite for food.
* Much better kung papa-Deliver ka na lang.

A one whole pizza was at around Php 1400. It can feed around 20 to 25. There are a lot of flavors to choose from so what are you waiting for?! Pa-Deliver ka na!

The Morning News

by Cedric Joshua L. Martinez

"GOOD MORNING PHILIPPINES!" signals the start of almost every morning news in our country.

A great number of Filipinos wake up in front of their television sets as they take in both breakfast and whatever the news present to us. For elementary and high school students, watching the morning news could give them recitation points on their SIBIKA, HEKASI or Social Science class. For Mass Communication students (like myself)
it is our obligation to be updated on current issues and events in our country and for a normal Juan/Juana watching the morning news can give them something to talk about with whoever they would like to talk to.

And as I tune in to a certain morning news program, I watched how it devastated my positive insight for the day. VEHICULAR ACCIDENTS, KIDNAPPING, RAPE and DEATH DUE TO NATURAL CATASTROPHE. Is this what they would want us to take in with us as we go to school, to work and to our community? Is this what they would want us to think based on the Agenda Setting Theory? Is this the kind of "healthy news" that they would want to present?

My friends, I am not saying that such negative information should be kept out of news. But what I am trying to question in this article is the way that today's media focus more on negative information that directly affects our insight today. A little balance between positive and negative information could be a determining factor on how we perform our daily tasks and obligations. Perhaps a little bit of positive information can go a long way and contribute to development and change both internally and externally.

Status: Friends Lang Talaga! (Escaping the zone)

by Jasper Noel Barba

You’re in love but the object of your affection thinks of you as more of a big brother than anything else that hurts dude. Why does it happen? Maybe the girl is scared of entering the second level of a relationship the most romantic one, maybe she’s in love with another guy or maybe you’re not just his type of guy “you suck” loser. But it is not the end of the world for us bros, I myself experience that many times and how do a hot guy like me get along from the zone? Well I do accept the reality of the situation that we don’t fit with each other.

Don’t withdraw yourself, it is much better if you start putting less focus on her and more focus on you at this stage of the process.

Here’s the thing dude you shouldn’t put all your eggs in one basket why? There are many fishes in the sea, we should be humble and playful with these fishes use your head not your heart. Start meeting some people your friends have friends who have friends of their own work different social circles. Meet girls and learn how to flirt well. Ironically, the more women you meet, the better you will do with the girl you’re trying to escape the friend zone with.

Make yourself out of it dude always put into your mind there is no single person in this world that can’t use a touch of self-improvement. Learn something new get those adrenalines pumping through your veins you’ll feel much better about yourself and gain more self-confidence. Just enjoy yourself, ika nga sa kasabihan eh “Experience is the best teacher”

The Indie Scene: Breaking the Glass

by Cedric Joshua Martinez

Independent Films “Indie Films” as defined by our bros in the asanda2filmstudies.blogspot.com (http://asanda2filmstudies.blogspot.com/2008/09/independent-films-definition.html) are films that are initially produced without financing or distribution from a major film studio.

Lately, Indie films in the Philippines are reaching out to the people as well as collecting numerous awards both here and abroad. Nevertheless, what are the possible reasons behind these? Here are my personal insights regarding the success of the Indie Films:

1. Indie films are not after the sales, they are after the story.

Most of the time, social issues and concerns are at the core of an indie film story which I very much different from the local mainstream movies. While the indies give us a glimpse of the reality, mainstream movies feed us with fantasy, imagination and romantic clichés.

2. They are limited in terms of budget.

Curious isn’t it? How does a limited budget contribute to the success of independent films? Simple. Independent filmmakers are forced to think outside the box. Thus, they are becoming more innovative in using the resources that they have, from the simple camera tricks, use of prosthetic up to the editing. They are discovering new and much more effective ways in making an indie film.

3. Indie Films are Independent

Being independent comes with many challenges, and perks. For filmmakers, this independence release them from the control of production companies and their standards. This gives them, especially the Director, much more control and opportunity to display what he or she would want to show to the audience.

4. Actors and Actresses work for the honor.

In spite of the low budget, we ask ourselves “Why is ___________ in this film? If I could remember __ has a very high talent fee.” The answer lies in the awards that they receive in the Philippines and overseas. Aside from which, they would also like to work with top directors like Brilliante Mendoza.

5. Indie Films give us the reality at the silver screen.

Philippine independent films give us insights and present to us the reality that is happening out there. And for me, that is the beauty of indie films. It is not only there in order to entertain us but to shake us up and open our eyes. By the end of every movie, questions are always being asked. What am I going to do know that I am aware of it? Am I experiencing the same thing? What can I do about it? This is the beauty of independent films, they are not just a work of art but more than that, they are stories of the people, our stories.
